Regional Extension Center

The Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) is one of sixty-two federally-designated Regional Extension Centers (REC) and is the designated REC for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We are an organization that offers a variety of programs and services designed to help clinical providers transition into a practice that meaningfully uses electronic health records. We are also the designated Health Information Exchange for the Commonwealth (Statewide HIE) and work closely with the state’s Office of Medicaid.

Our strength is in the breadth of partnerships that build on an existing, trusted, regional support infrastructure. We work closely with key stakeholders to facilitate an efficient working environment, and provide comprehensive linkages between providers, facilities, local health IT service providers, state-wide stakeholder coalitions, and local and state-wide health information exchanges.

Health Information Exchange

MeHI is the designated Health Information Exchange (HIE) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The HIE will offer a mechanism by which patients, physicians, public health officials and researchers will be able to access data and actionable information, to allow them to demonstrate measurable improvements in health care quality, safety, efficiency and population health.
